Autism Awareness Assembly. An assembly all about ASD, what it is, some statistics and facts addressing misconceptions and celebrating the successes of famous people on the autistic spectrum. It lasts around 15-20 mins (inc clip). It includes animations, an option of two different 4 minute clips (one for KS3 and one for KS4/5), statistics, and a little humour. This is really easy to just pick up and use and is intended to help all students embrace and celebrate diversity. Fully editable too. An Anti-bullying assembly which follows the story of Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley from Harry Potter) and how he was the target of bullying as he grew up and how he dealt with this. The assembly doesn’t just focus on the obvious reasons why bullying is wrong, but also some less obvious reasons which students might not have thought of before, to create more of an impact. The second half of the assembly focuses on respect - looking at what respect means in practice before ending with some helpful takeaway tips. The assembly will last around 15-20 minutes if clip is watched (3 mins) and suggested questions are asked too. Everything is editable. 1 hour - 90 min, fully resourced PSHE lesson suitable for KS4 or KS5 all about returning to school after the coronavirus pandemic. The lesson allows students firstly to share their feelings and concerns about the lockdown time, the disease itself and missing school. They then investigate how they catch up on any subjects they feel they have fallen behind on. The second half on the lesson has more of a practical focus about how diseases spread, hygiene and how students can protect themselves. Complete Curriculum Schemes of Work for the new PSHE 2020 Guidelines (including RSE and Careers). This completely free, PSHE, RSE, Health and Wellbeing audit for the new DfE Statutory 2020 Guidelines has been created as a project with EC Resources and PSHE Consultant and Hodder Education Resources creator, Brian Reeve-Hayes. The audit contains both word documents for each sub-section of the new guidelines and a comprehensive, editable, secondary PSHE Excel tracker. A 25 minute Tutor Time session created especially for LGBT+ Month (Feb 2019). The session serves as an introduction to the LGBT+ / LGBTQAI community, breaking down the acronyms and investigating why it is still a term which it isn’t always easy to define. This is the first of six sessions to be used throughout LGBT+ month, each focusing on and exploring the culture and history of a different aspect of the LGBTQAI community, from Lesbians (L) to Intersex (I). The session contains three challenge learning outcomes, slides of easy to digest information, a clip task with differentiated questions, a quiz and final reflection task. It compares the validity of Amish beliefs to more mainstream Christian ones and investigates what it’s like to live in the Amish community today. It examines criticisms as well as the Church in the words of believers. This lesson is the fifth in my ‘Alternative Religions and New Movements’ Unit - originally created for year 9, but easily amended for any KS3 / KS4 group.
